During the hot season, which runs from the end of May through the middle of September, the average daily temperature is above 81°. Winter lasts from the end of November through the end of February, with average daily highs below 59°. It occasionally snows in North Hills, with the area getting approximately 2.7 inches of snow per year.


North Hills is served by Wake County Public School System. There are 7 public schools here and 9 private schools. The majority of students here (74%) attend public school. The top-ranked schools in the North Hills area are:

North Hills is a very walkable community with banks, grocery stores, and a pharmacy just a short stroll away. The community is located right in the middle of Raleigh and is just 5 miles north of downtown.

You can get to North Hills by taking Exit 8 from the I-440 interstate. It’s also only a 15-minute drive from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).


There are many entertainment options in North Hills, including a 14-screen cinema. The area also has plenty of premier dining establishments, cafes, department stores, and high-end boutiques.
